We had a very interesting evening with Tommy Thompson on Oct 30th. With his unique style he introduced the students and teachers at the school to some of his current thinking on how to create a conducive learning environment. He talked about ‘holding the space’ for your pupil and by this he meant making a connection with them in such a way that they felt accepted and understood. He believes that if you see someones soul as well as their personality then they will learn more deeply. He also emphasised that as teachers we also need to hold space for ourselves and acknowledge that which is deep in us. This will create a respectful teaching exchange.
